Browser Recommendations

Web browsers are constantly being updated, security improved and they are mostly free. Internet Explorer is now starting to show its old age and many are now downloading faster, more featured and more secure browsers that improve the Internet experience. just remember that a browser does require a number of other programs to assist it (quicktime, adobe reader etc) and we have made a list of these also.

You should also be very conscious of Internet security and have virus checkers and spyware checkers (not so important on Mac OSX) and firewall in place. Always download from a site that you have more respect in, so nasties do not hijack your browser... and always pdate your software to patch any problems or update virus and spyware checkers.

Check out:

Firefox (Open Source with a lot of extensions available)

Opera (Released version 8 is available as freeware now)

If you haven't updated or downloaded files before then have a go... if you are on a Windows PC always download from a respected site!

Mac OS X Safari The lastest version of this browser is always available by going to the Apple (top left of screen), slide to "software update". Follow the instructions in the window that pops up. if it doesn't work you are probably behind a proxy server and need to talk to your network administrator about this.. otherwise... it just works!
Firefox Mac OSX/ Windows/Linux Just go for it.. it beats the others hands down on windows and is much safer to use. Excellent reviews.
Internet Explorer Well if you have to the latest version is found here. also good to use the windows update service. Go to "Start" on your Program Bar and choose "Windows update"
